K’gari, more popularly known as Fraser Island World Heritage Area, is located of the East Coast of Queensland, Australia. Local Aboriginal people have long known the island as K’gari (which means Paradise) and recently succeeded in having the name recognised officially. With every step of your journey through this enchanted island, you will be astonished by the natural wonders, history and incredible beauty of Fraser Island. Fraser Island is huge and you can reach there from Noosa or Rainbow Beach, joining the island at one end and driving almost the full length. Just across the water is beautiful Hervey Bay, a resting area for Humpback Whales seasonally and with its resident Bottlenose and Indo-pacific Humpback Dolphins. Hervey Bay has a subtropical climate and is a perfect place to holiday year round. Popular times are the whale-watching seasons from about July to September but a visit any time of year is worthwhile.
