Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Rome
You will be picked at Rome FCO Airport and transported via a private luxury car to Hotel Villa Pinciana in Rome city centre. After checking into your hotel, you'll have the rest of the day to spend as you wish. You may want to simply relax at the hotel after your long journey or you may want to head out to acquaint yourself with the 'eternal city' before your ultimate Italy tour begins tomorrow!
Day 2: Tour of the Vatican Museums
Beginning in the Piazza della Repubblica, you'll head inside the Vatican walls to explore this incredible city that lies within. Over the course of this 3-hour tour, you'll visit the Egyptian obelisk in Piazza del Popolo, then head into the Vatican Museums taking the beautiful Spiral staircase, the Gallery of the Tapestries, the Gallery of the Geographical Maps and the famous Sistine Chapel with its magnificent fresco by Michelangelo. You'll have some time free to visit St. Peter’s Basilica.
Day 3: Tour of Imperial Rome
Today, you'll explore the wonders of Imperial Rome. Beginning at Piazza Venezia, you'll then head to the famous Piazza Del Campidoglio, designed by Michelangelo, where you'll have a fantastic view of the Roman Forum. You will then head to the Circus Maximus, one of the largest sporting arenas ever built but of course, you'll save the best til last, the Colosseum, an incredible Roman stone amphitheatre built in the 1st century.
Day 4: Tour of Naples and Pompeii
Today, you'll discover the Lost City of Pompeii, which dates back over 2,000 years, the earliest available traces recorded being 7th-6th century BC. During the 1st century, Mount Vesuvius erupted ending the inhabitation of Pompeii and burying it under 30 feet of ash, only to be discovered in the 18th century. After lunch, you will admire the city of Naples on a two-hour city sightseeing tour before returning to Rome.
Day 5: Necropolis of Hidden Rome
In the morning, you'll visit St Clement's Basilica, a unique insight into the archaeological timeline from Ancient Rome to the beginning of the Middle Ages. You'll then head to the Roman Houses in Celian Hill, where the wealthy lived during the 2nd to 4th centuries. After lunch in a typical roman "trattoria", you'll visit the Basilica of the Sacconi Rossi to learn about the group of people responsible for caring for the unclaimed bodies founded in the River Tiber during the 17th century.
Day 6: Departure to Florence & Dinner at Ruffino Winery
After breakfast, you will be transported to Rome Termini train station to take the train to Florence. After arriving in Florence, you'll check in and then have the afternoon free to spend as you wish, relaxing or exploring. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to visit the famous Ruffino winery just outside of Florence, where you will enjoy a three-course meal dinner and sample the exquisite Ruffino wine.
Day 7: Walking Tour of Florence with Accademia Gallery
Today, you'll visit the main sights of Florence on your quest for Michelangelo. You'll begin by visiting one of the most visited spots in the city, Piazza del Duomo. You'll then head to Giotto's Bell Tower, the most eloquent example of 14th-century Gothic architecture in Florence, before heading to the cathedral. You'll finish the Gallerie dell'Accademia Florence, which is home to one of the most stunning and most famous collections of Michaelangelo's work include the Statue of David.
Day 8: Tour of Pisa
This day trip begins with a tour of Pisa's medieval walls, where you can take in extraordinary views of Piazza dei Miracoli. Here, you will be treated to a tour inside the Cathedral, the Baptistery and Monumental Graveyard. After taking the obligatory photo next to the Leaning Tower, you will head inside and climb up to the bell tower, where you can take in breathtaking views of the cityscape. There will also be free time after the visit to browse souvenir shops or stop for an ice-cream.
Day 9: Depart to Siena
Today you'll leave Florence behind and take a private transfer to Florence train station where you will take the train to Siena. Upon arrival in Siena, you'll have the rest of the afternoon and evening to spend as you wish. Siena is a jewel of central Italy, a lively city whose heart still bustles with locals with shops, bakeries butchers and restaurants and a great atmosphere which has made Siena one of Italy's most-loved destinations.
Day 10: Explore Siena
Immerse yourself in history, art and architectural excellence with a walk through the enchanting city of Siena. This enjoyable half-day walking tour takes you to the most famous attractions in the charming city of Siena, including Piazza del Campo, the majestic cathedral and the San Domenico Basilica. During the tour, you'll learn about the history of the city and all about the thrilling Palio horse race, which takes place twice a year in the city's main square, from your guide.
Day 11: Discover Montalcinno
Explore the Chianti countryside on this private tour of Montalcino with wine tasting of the famous Brunello di Montalcino wine. Famous above all as the home of this precious wine, Montalcino is still a small town with an intact medieval village. It is extremely pleasant to walk around, exploring the beautiful sights of this town whilst your private guide reveals the wonders of this town and its history to you.
Day 22: Venice & Doge's Palace
Take in the beauty of Venice on this walking tour of the city followed by a traditional journey through the magical network of canals in the afternoon. You will be visiting the most iconic sights of Venice including the Piazza San Marco, the religious and cultural centre of the city, Doge's Palace, the grandeur of St. Mark's Basilica, St. Mark's Bell Tower and the Clock Tower. The rest of the afternoon and evening will then be free for you to enjoy as you wish.
Day 21: Travel to Venice
After breakfast, you will be transported to Milan Centrale railway station to take a train to Venice. Upon arriving in Venice, you'll take a water taxi Venice-style to your hotel. After checking in, you'll have the rest of the day free to spend as you wish. You may want to relax at your hotel or head out to St Mark's Square to soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful 'floating city' made up on 100 islands linked by beautiful bridges.
Day 20: Tour of Milan with the Da Vinci Last Supper
Today you'll have some free time in the first part of the day to wander this city on your own. Then in the afternoon, you'll enjoy the main attractions of Milan with this tour which is also focused on the world famous masterpiece "Last Supper" by Leonardo Da Vinci housed in Santa Maria delle Grazie church. You'll also visit the Atlantic Codex, which features an extensive collection of Da Vinci's manuscripts, including pieces focused on mathematics, anatomy and machine design.
Day 19: Travel to Milan
After breakfast, you will be transported to the Como San Giovanni Train Station where you will take the train to Milan. Upon arriving in Milan, you'll be taken to your hotel where you can check in and then have the rest of the day free to relax. You may want to head out into the city to explore the sights on your own and get acquainted or you may just want to relax in the comfort of your hotel.
Day 18: Leisure Day in Bellagio
Today you'll have a whole day free time to relax on the banks of Lake Como or enjoy a spa day at your hotel. During your free time in Bellagio, you can wander its cobblestone lanes and admire the elegant buildings. You can also visit the parks such as the Villa Serbelloni Park, an 18th-century terraced garden overlooking the lake, visit the Tower of the Arts, the Romanesque San Giacomo Church or the rocky beach of Loppia.
Day 12: Free Day in Siena
Spend your free day in Siena exploring the local attractions, shopping for souvenirs and gifts and whiling away the hours in a cafe overlooking the famous main square. Siena's medieval buildings and local atmosphere make it one of Italy's most-loved destinations. Visit the Palazzo Pubblico, the Gothic town hall and the Torre del Mangia, a slender 14th-century tower with sweeping views.
Day 16: Departure to Milan for Lake Como
After breakfast, you will be transported to the Monterosso train station to take the train to Milan. At Milan Centrale train station, a private car will take you to your hotel in Bellagio near Lake Como. After checking in, you'll have the rest of the day and evening to explore this wonderful region and soak up the picturesque landscapes surrounding the mighty Lake Como. Your guide can provide activity recommendations should you need any.
Day 15: Discover the Cinque Terre
Travel effortless between the villages of the Cinque Terre with the three-day pass of the Cinque Terre. You will have the opportunity to visit the picturesque villages of the Cinque Terre, such as Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. You'll also be able to take advantage of the beautiful walking trails of the Cinque Terre National Park and the incredible beaches lined with white sand and crystal clear waters along this coastline.
Day 14: Explore the Cinque Terre
With the three-day pass of the Cinque Terre, you will have the opportunity to visit the picturesque villages of the Cinque Terre, such as Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, as well as the beautiful walking trails of the Cinque Terre National Park. The Cinque Terre also boasts a number of incredible beaches lined with white sand and crystal clear waters for you to enjoy.
Day 13: Departure for Cinque Terre
After breakfast, you will be transported to the railway station in Siena to take the train to Levanto, your next destination. Upon arrival, you'll check into your hotel and then have the rest of the day free to explore as you wish. Levanto is the gateway to the beautiful medieval hilltop villages which are scattered along the Cinque Terre. You can use your 3-day pass to easily travel between the villages to explore this beautiful region.
Day 23: Gondola Serenade & Dinner
A large part of the day today will be free for you to explore Venice as you wish, whether that be seeking out local attractions or relaxing in a cafe watching the world go by. In the evening, you'll enjoy a gondola ride down the shining Grand Canal and inner canals crossed by tiny bridges, while musicians and singers perform romantic Italian songs and popular classics. The day will conclude with a typical dinner in a Venetian restaurant.
Day 17: Ferry Boat to Explore Lake Como
Today, you'll embark on a ferry boat trip to admire the villages on the coast of Lake Como, from Bellagio to Como Town. You'll explore the beautiful villages that are scattered along the shores of the lake. Winding through the mountains and sparkling in the sunlight, the lake is somewhat of a celebrity often frequented by the elite.
Day 24: Tour of Murano, Burano and Torcello
Today, you'll enjoy a half-day sightseeing excursion with a local guide to the Murano, Burano and Torcello islands, 3 of the islands that make up the 100 islands of Venice. Murano is famous for its glass-making, the museum of glass and several historic churches. Burano is an island of fishermen, lacemakers and colourfully painted houses, whereas Torcello is a bucolic island with a 1,000-year-old cathedral and a handful of outdoor restaurants. In the afternoon, you'll be taken to the airport.
