Day 1: Florence City Tour
This morning starts with an introductory tour during which you'll learn facts and secrets of two thousand years of Florentine history, from the city’s Roman origins to a 15th-century palace, from the Ponte Vecchio, through the famous Uffizi courtyard, to the wonders of the architecture of Brunelleschi’s Dome which overlooks the Baptistery golden ‘Gates of Paradise’.
Day 2: Visit Florence
Visit Florence and the residence of the Medici family. You'll have the morning free before you go on a comprehensive tour of the Pitti Palace and the neighbouring Boboli Gardens. This is the perfect introduction to your Tuscany tour and to Florence.
Day 3: Piazzale Michelangelo & Fiesole
Today, you have the entire day free to explore the city. You may choose to visit the museums, the Academy Gallery or climb up the stairs of the Dome of Brunelleschi. You could also take a walk in Boboli Gardens, admire the Palazzo Pitti and walk all the way up to Piazzale Michelangelo to see the entire city of Florence with the River Arno and its bridges. The day is a great resting day from your guided tour of Tuscany.
Day 4: Siena City Tour
This morning you'll leave Florence behind with a train to Siena. After checking into your accommodation, you'll meet your guide for a private guided tour of the city. The tour starts at the San Domenico church, where the remains of Saint Catherine, protector of Italy and Europe are kept.
Day 5: San Gimignano, Chianti & Montalcino
Today, you'll head out of Siena on a guided join-in excursion to see the small beautiful towns of Tuscany and taste Tuscan wine in local wineries. You'll begin the day in San Gimignano, a medieval hill town southwest of Florence surrounded by 13th-century stone walls and many towers. Next, you'll stop in Montalcino, a beautiful medieval hilltop city with a castle that overlooks it. After lunch in a Chianti winery, you'll enjoy a wine tasting of the local wines made only in this region.
Day 6: Visit the City of St Francis
This morning after a leisurely breakfast, you'll catch a bus to Assisi. Free time to visit the city and the beautiful basilica of St. Francis, one of the most revered Catholic friar in the country. This city is steeped in history, making it the perfect place for a leisurely stroll to learn a little more.
Day 7: Perugia
Today, you'll get to Perugia to visit the city where you can explore freely to learn a little about this creative hilltop location. The city is well known for its musical and culinary abilities that are romanticised by the cobbled streets and Roman and medieval architecture.
Day 8: Train to Arezzo, Visit the City
Catch a train to Arezzo and visit the city at your pace. A haven for shopping and art lovers, Arezzo is a small Tuscan city that is steeped in history, having once been an important Roman town and an Etruscan trading post. This stunning location is made all the more beautiful with its architecture with stunning frescos seemingly everywhere you look.
Day 9: Free Day in Arezzo
Enjoy a relaxing day in this small Tuscan town, take a break, have a coffee and watch the world go by just as locals do. Arezzo is the perfect place to take it slow, where you can spend your days lazily hopping from shop to shop, browsing around museums and art galleries and taking a well-deserved long lunch. You'll fall in love with the pace of life here.
Day 10: Visit Cortona
Today, you'll journey to Cortona. Found in the province of Arezzo, Cortona is a hilltown that is famous for its stonework, and you'll soon see why! Spend your day exploring the city in between visiting museums that offer a fascinating insight into the city's past life through artefacts and artworks. You'll also find that there are some interesting archaeological sites on the outskirts.
Day 11: Train to Lucca
Go to Lucca by train and visit the city. A sea of clay tile roofing, Lucca has a stunning historic centre, characterised by Renaissance facades, cobbled streets and spacious squares lined with cafes. Explore the 16th- and 17th-century walls and get a feel for the city's history.
Day 12: Pisa
Everyone knows Pisa and its leaning tower, but you often forget that the tower is, in fact, the bell tower of the splendid Cathedral Santa Maria Assunta. Pisa has many other hidden treasures, its palaces and churches that you will discover along a stroll in its centre.
Day 13: Arrivederci
A private driver will take you to the airport to the end of the Tuscan tour from Florence where it started.
